This year Emily graduated from Angola High School and began her freshman year at Grace College, where she is pursuing a B.S. in Life Science Education. Her goal is to become a high school life science teacher.
During High School, Emily participated in a wide variety of activities, including FFA and 4-H. She served as President of her local 4-H club, where she exhibited well-mannered and courteous leadership. As a participant in the 4-H Bio-Tech Teen Teachers program, Emily put her passion for science and teaching to work by educating and mentoring hundreds of students and cohorts about biotechnology.
Emily is a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Indiana Beekeepers Association, and was active in a variety of sports and academic programs during high school, including track, soccer, science academic super bowl, Girl Scouts, Campus Life, the Student Academic Advisory Council (just to name a few).
She has shown characteristics of a great future leader. She is well-rounded, dependable, and well-respected; adapts and thrives in diverse and challenging environments; and shows commitment and innovation in scientific pursuits. She is able to cross boundaries and make connections between seemingly disparate concepts. And importantly, she has a passion for educating others. She will surely be an inspiration to many young girls in Indiana who aspire for careers in STEM-related fields.
