2018 Women & Hi Tech Scholarship - Undergraduate

Sheetal discovered her passion for studying medicine at a very young age; she saw medicine as way to positively impact the world around her. In later years, she also developed an interest in engineering, so rather than choose between them, she decided to combine her interests and passions.  

Sheetal is currently a sophomore in the Biomedical Engineering program at Purdue’s School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI, with plans for medical school upon graduation. She maintains a 4.0 GPA in what some consider to be the most rigorous engineering program at IUPUI. 

These achievements are particularly impressive given her extensive volunteer contributions. She is an active volunteer in her community and on the IUPUI campus. Sheetal is a member and volunteer at Timmy Global Health, a not-for-profit that expands access to healthcare and empowers students and volunteers to tackle today’s global health challenges. She also volunteers her time at a free student-run clinic run by IUPUI, Butler, and IU students. As if those things don’t keep her busy enough, she is also a campus mentor who helps first year students become acclimated to college life. 

It is exciting to imagine what the future holds for such a bright and passionate young woman.
