There are numerous industries and careers that benefit from a STEM professional’s problem solving, analysis, and disciplined scientific thought process. Gain insight into how STEM skills fit within the needs of today’s supply chain dynamics. Hear case studies  from two accomplished supply chain leaders who have successfully applied their STEM skills to lead supply chain teams, projects, and/or processes. It’s a great opportunity to learn how broadly your STEM skills can be leveraged!  Lunch is provided at this event.  

Scheduled Speakers:

Tami Gentry is the Sr. Purchasing Manager for IP, Plastics & Global Indirect at Vertellus, an Ag, Nutrition and specialty chemical manufacturer.  Her team excels at creating strategic purchasing relationships that result in value added opportunities at Vertellus. The team continually delivers cost savings via mutually benefit contracts with core suppliers.

Over her 20 year career, she has made a positive impact with her employers in the purchasing, sourcing, and supply / planning arenas. As a graduate of Depaul University with a degree in International Business and University of Tennessee MBA in Global Supply Chain Management she has established herself into a position to successfully lead supply chain projects and teams delivering world class results.

On a personal side Tami has been married to her husband, Darren, for 11 years and has 1 child- Easton (8).


Kelli Grothen is the director of the Integrated Services Supply Chain team at Eli Lilly and Company. Her team is responsible for delivering changes to Lilly's Enterprise Resource Planning system that improve supply chain processes across the company.

Over her 26+ years with Lilly, Kelli has held roles as a process engineer, operations team leader, procurement associate, supply chain consultant, and supply chain director. As a chemical engineer from Purdue University, her STEM background has been foundational to successfully lead supply chains and implement projects.

On the personal side, Kelli has been married to her husband, Chad, for 26 years and has 2 children - Amanda and Evan. Amanda is a junior in Chemical Engineering at Purdue, and Evan is a junior at Avon High School.
