ACS, SWE, and W&HT Present: Chemistry of Bourbon

Bourbon’s origins can be traced into the hills of Kentucky as far back as 1789, a mere 13 years after the founding of the United States. What chemical reactions took place within that first barrel to transform corn whiskey into bourbon? And how do distillers put their own mark on the spirit today by rebalancing the equation and environment?

The American Chemical Society (ACS), Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and Women & Hi Tech (W&HT) are gathering for hands-on exploration of the Chemistry of Bourbon. Meet us at West Fork Whiskey in Westfield on May 1 from 6 - 8:30 pm for a bourbon tasting.

Light hors d'oeuvres, dessert, and two drink tickets per attendee are included with the cost of registration. This is in addition to small bourbon samples provided during the presentation to inform and contextualize our scientific discourse. We will also raffle off several gift cards to West Fork Whiskey!

• Registration is $12.51 for American Chemical Society, Society of Women Engineers, and/or Women & Hi Tech members. Members of ACS, SWE, and W&HT may reach out to their local organizations to receive the registration code, or check for a message regarding this code in your recent emails.
• Registration for individuals who are not currently members of one of the hosting nonprofits is $23.18. Any non-member parties may reach out to whtinfo@womenandhitech.org with general questions about the event.
• Please note all attendees must be 21 or older.
